The Ojai Valley NfL uses the 40 developmental assets as its framework. The assets, developed by the Search Institute, have proven to provide a foundation for children to grow up happy, healthy and productive. There are 8 categories of assets: support, constructive use of time empowerment, boundaries and expectations, commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies and positive identity. The more assets a young person has, the more likely they are to become caring, competent and contributing adults.
